Fabulously vintage

You know that moment in Touch by an Angel, yes, I am making that reference, when the seeming flashlight spotlights down?  I feel like that happens whenever there is a vintage thrift, add in maybe a little "AhhhA ahhhh!"

So not only do I have a "touched" moment I decided to jazz up my vintage sweater by paring it with a muted plaid skirt... I know how ridiculous to put stripes with plaid but it's ok... depending on the stripes and the plaid.

Get adventurous... it's fun!

Left but not forgotten

I love holidays... pretty much all of them.  Though I must say I don't get flag day.  Halloween is close to my heart, not for its history, interesting as it may be, not for the vandalism of rotten eggs, smelly as they may be, but it is a night when most everybody is forced into letting themselves free to be a child again (slutty, for some, child maybe but I still count it as a child... calling for some attention I'll have you).  If there is one large regret for growing up for me it is that I left most my imagination and freedom to be silly (well, more silly than I am) behind. The fact that when I play pretend with kids it is work to me makes me sad.  I miss being the kid that didn't see the box but instead saw... well, anything.

So here's to acting like a kid for a night!

Lasso Ladies

So I don't like country music... I know, I'm a horrible person.  Especially because I live in the south, it is almost mandatory to like country music when you live in the south... or so I am told.

This outfit is about as close as I get to liking country, so all you out there who think I am crazy... well, enjoy the closest I can get ;P

Btw, I think that people who don't like pop are crazy : D

The first of the season

First sweater of the season!  I can't believe it.  I woke up and thought, "cold enough to wear a sweater...Sure!"  Got a thing for sweaters (and boots... and scarves and pretty much all things cold).  But apparently I wasn't happy enough with wearing the sweater but needed to break rules too... Belt over a sweater!

I know, I am extremely adventuresome aren't I!  You never saw someone delinquent.

Optimistic as a heart attack!

Another lovely day, one of those days when you wake up and think: today is going to be great.  It may end up not being but so long as I look on the bright side it is so much better!  I want to be the annoying person that only exists as an extreme on tv shows, you know the person.  They get hit by a car and they glad that they got that chance to slow down and enjoy the hum of the engine... yea, I'd like to be the optimistic but then again I guess you can only have one of those per couple.  My husband met the quota ;P

Wrong but the glass is full

Today I woke up feeling a bit sick, as to counter my feeling I decided to dress up a bit.  That and had crackers... And of course the cliche thing that comes to mind is "well, I guess it's a good diet"?  How wrong is that... I guess it is ok on the whole "looking for the glass half full side"... maybe

Fuzzy, fury and all things wonderful

It is finally getting cool enough that I can wear pants! Yes, I am hot natured   I'm so glad, not that you haven't already picked that up, it's officially fall!  Ready for winter too... the colder the better, why do I live in the south again? ;P  I am so excited.  I have already gone to a corn maze!  It was really cool.  Over two acres of maze!

Fall Must haves 2011

Today I know everything, and I am sharing my depth of knowledge with you, are you feeling privileged yet?  Cause you should be, this is going to be some pretty awesome stuff ;P

Today I will download info that only I can, cause I'm that awesome.  Ok, for real though this post is all about fall basics.

I like fads and trends but when it comes down to it I lean on the basics and then throw in a few "new tricks".

Have to haves:
Opac black tights
Skinny jeans  (if you like boots, other wise a nice trouser cut jean)
Leggings (great for warmth and wearing under skirts)
Go to skirt ( I like to have one that can be dressed up or down, and a little funky never hurts)
Long sleeve swoop neck shirt (great for layering and flattering for most every body type, lengthens the neck)
I included another long sleeve shirt, you can vary the neck line obviously
Go to sweater (I prefer a vintage feel to add "funk")
I included another sweater, you can go any which direction you want (I went button up)
Couple knee high socks
Boots (if I had to pick one pair I'd go black... but my sister would go brown, so it's up to your wardrobe)
Basic jacket (for fall I prefer the lighter side as to not get too hot with sweaters)
and obviously as with any season:
Good undershirt and bra.

These somewhat few items can be transformed into over a month's worth of outfits

Small things like:
Scarves
Necklaces
Hats
Statement purses
Statement rings

As for hot trends and fads!

This year as there is every year there are a lot to choose from.

 "hint of animal print"
60's Plaid/ 60's look in general
Fur (this is in every year)
Mustard (pretty much anything in that color)
Pleating
Maxi skirts (especially sheer)
Jade (dresses especially)
Tuxedos (especially white)
Polka Dots
"Hint of lace"
"Working Girl" dress
Parka (not the biggest fan of this one)
Bright bottoms (trousers, jeans, you name it)

My favorites of trends:
Maxi skirts
Polka dots (because they are awesome)
Fur (not really a fad but they like to think it is)
60's pretty much anything (vintage need I say more?)

Now go search your closet, be amazed at the fact you own most all of what you need to have a fabulous and fashionable fall!

Twirl around, bright eyes

Dressy for no reason and out on the town.  I got this dress recently, second hand of course.  I love a dress that is simple enough to put on, ability to diversify and makes you feel pretty all with ease.   Do you have dresses that make you feel like a 4 year old self, back in a flowing dress twirling around?  I miss desiring to twirl for no reason...

Keeping things wild

Just another night inviting friends over and hanging out... that seems to calm so I decided "Break" things out... teehee, spent too much time with my husband and his teacher humor.

Random and for no reason at all

Do you ever get one of those tops that make you want to wear it... even if you don't think you will be able to pull it off.  Who cares anyway!  I wanted to wear this top.  I don't care that it isn't built for my body type.  I wear this for me.  I wear this cause I want to. I wear this because I can!  Go random pieces of clothes that make you feel defiant... for no apparent reason.

Thanks for the challenge ladies: Pretty Shiny Sparkly and Pleated Poppy

Break-thrift-ness

Fun and crazy I make my way in the day.  I feel like my wardrobe makes up four different people's styles, but sadly I'm ok with that.  I'll be a split personality when it comes to fashion... and most all things in my life.  Well today I decided to go crazy in breaking rules today: over 10 colors in one outfit!  Out do me and live on the wild side ;P
